Two new polls from American Research Group (ARG) show that Hillary is not only closing the gap (MT), she has a comfortable lead in South Dakota:
In Montana, Hillary has significantly cut into Obama's lead. She now trails him by just 4 points, 48-44; and in South Dakota, Clinton leads by a whopping 26 points, with 6 percent undecided.
I was one of several volunteers who joined President Bill Clinton today on a conference call. The former president is in South Dakota. He said this about the continued excitement and interest in Hillary's campaign:
"It feels good; we're getting big crowds. People are still undecided; they're still moving. These calls are indispensible, so let's bring it home and finish high tomorrow night."
Bracing For Post-Primary Day (And Week)
Most of us understand that Hillary's chances of winning the nomination are very slim. It's a hard pill to swallow, but I'm not a Pollyanna and I don't think anything is gained from living in continued denial about this sobering fact. I don't know what Hillary will do after tomorrow night. Whatever she decides, I'll support her. If she takes her bid to Denver, I'll be with her all the way. If she suspends her campaign, I'll support that, too.
I think we all need to brace ourselves for what may be coming: a "flood" of superdelegates lining up behind Barack Obama after the dust has settled from the primaries. This doesn't mean I won't continue to lobby these superdelegates to a) endorse Hillary and b) to switch their endorsement from Obama to Hillary. It's simple: she has what we need to win, to govern, and to get things done. That's why I'm with her. I believe she is our strongest chance of winning the WH in November. If superdelegates don't agree after all the facts and information I (and others) have presented, then nothing is going to work.
Still, it doesn't hurt to make one or two last pitches to these powerful superdelegates about why we believe Hillary is our strongest and best choice for nominee. That in mind, I am providing both the Lobby Superdelegates link and the Lobby Superdelegates widget to use in the next 24 hours. Let your SDs know:
NOTE: I've tried the widget. There is something wrong with the scripting, which means it doesn't open the way it should! I'm leaving it here just as a reminder to you to lobby your superdelegates. You can use the link (above) which does work. It requires a couple of extra steps this way, but I can't find the error in the js codes to "fix" this at the moment.
